What parents should do after HSC trials

Trial results can feel huge, but they are also one of the best diagnostic tools before the final HSC exams.

First response: lower the panic

A bad trial result does not mean the final result is fixed. It usually means the student now has clearer evidence of what needs repair.

Ask better questions

  • Which marks were lost because of content?
  • Which marks were lost because of timing?
  • Which questions did you misread?
  • Which answers were too general?
  • What is the first repair task this week?

Do not say only “study harder”

Students need a sharper instruction than that. Better: “Show me your top three repeated mistake types and what you are doing to fix them.”

Practical support

Help protect sleep, transport, food, quiet time and a realistic weekly routine. Parents do not need to know the syllabus to help students behave consistently.
